Summer afternoon showers have returned to Jacksonville.
I love it. It is a free pass to stop everything, go directly home and read.
Hard to do? No worries. The pass to stop everything and hit the sofa and read a book extends into evening. And the free passes accrue, allowing for extended sacred time to stop everything and read.
Stopping everything includes:
Leaving your phone in a place that makes you too lazy to get up and attend to it.
Thinking about the major social faux pax you’ve made in the past 24 hours. Clearly, I speak from experience.
Worrying about the state of our country, the world, your marriage, your divorce, your eczema, the fact that everyone under the age of 21 thinks you are old.
Regretting not buying the thing that was on sale, all unfinished projects, parenthood, never traveling to Italy, Prague or Waldo.
Take a cue from that wise woman of nature. When it rains, stop everything and read.
Cheaper than therapy.
